Car seat inserts... are they safe?

I’ve been told mixed things about the car seat inserts on wether they are safe for newborns. I feel like my baby needs more support in his car seat because his head is always to one side and I’m not sure if that’s comfortable or even safe for him. Here is what I’m looking to add In on my car seat and how my baby looks in his car seat without the inserts. I’m a ftm and just want to make sure my little bean is safe and comfortable.

No. If it did not come with the seat it was not tested and should not be used

I suggest you join car seats for the littles on Facebook. They will get you all sorted out. I think you may need to recline his seat a bit more. The ladies in that group are certified and very helpful. But the things like that head pillow are not safe and haven’t been tested in your seat.

Anything that you buy separately from the car seat itself is never safe. It would come with the seat if it is safe.

Check the seats manual. It will tell what kind, if any, are safe and what elsw you can do. Mine came with an insert and tells you what extra inserts are safe (theyre from the manufacturer) and a way to safely use towels or small blankets instead for support.

The inserts and shoulder pads that come with the carseat are crash tested and perfectly safe. Any after market inserts and shoulder pads that did not come with the carseat are not considered safe to be used with the carseat.
