This may be a dumb question but what takes longer dilation or effacement?

Answer

It depends on the woman, and potentially the pregnancy.
Last pregnancy I was practically fully dilated but had trouble completely effacing. Right now I’m 36 weeks and I’m 1 cm dilated but much more effaced 🤷🏼‍♀️

Either one really it just depends. I’d say effacement and thinning that’s longer. Usually the last month or so you slowly thin out. But in reality it could be either one or they could take the same amount of time. They can both go super slow or fast
