Amber Alert Complaints 🚨

Emma

So I’m sure everyone in Ontario has already heard about this controversy. Last night at about 11:30pm everyone in Ontario (I believe, not sure exactly how far from her location they sent it) received an amber alert on their phones. It was for an 11 year old girl who was not returned home to her mother after visiting her father. They live in Brampton Ontario which is about 3 hrs from where I live. This startled me because it was loud and unexpected, but didn’t upset me at all. I said a prayer for her family and went back to bed. Today the news reports have been about how many people complained about how late the amber alert went off 😳. I find this outrageous, so selfish, and shameful. The fact that people actually have the nerve to complain about an amber alert is absolute insanity. But apparently a lot of people were upset. So I’m here so see what everyone here thinks about this. I’ve copied a brief description from the Toronto city news for you to read. The little girls body was found deceased in her fathers home. So so sad RIP Riya 😢

Despite the tragic end to an Amber Alert sent out Thursday night about a missing 11-year-old girl, some people were more angry about the disturbance the alert caused to their sleep.

Peel police said their communications bureau received a number of calls to 9-1-1 from people complaining about the late hour the alert was sent to mobile phones.

The first alert was sent just after 11:30 p.m. Thursday about the disappearance of Riya Rajkuma, who was believed to have been abducted by her father. The body of the little girl was later found at a home in Brampton and her father was arrested a short time later by provincial police in Orillia.
