Foley induction

So I'm 38 weeks and being started next Thurs due to GD. I had a sweep Tues and was hoping to have gone myself by now but still here even after a show the next day. I'm back at the hospital this Tues for another sweep and praying I'll go myself. Anyways when I had the sweep Tues there they said my cervix was soft and I was 1cm which means they will be able to use foley (the balloon) to induce me on thurs. I'm just wondering does this speed up the progress? Can it be just as long? Is it bad? Any details on it pleasee
