Menthol cough drops while pregnant?

Normally I ask my doctor but it’s Sunday and I can’t stop coughing. I want to get some sleep tonight. Has anyone’s doctor told them it’s safe to use cough drops? I usually prefer menthol because of the soothing feeling but feel free to comment about any others that you know are safe.

Jolly ranchers are great for coughs because they coat your throat and last a long time. I was also told it’s safe to take Robitussin for coughs as I have a viral infection. I take the regular one during the day and Robitussin PM at night. The active ingredient in it that helps you sleep is the same active ingredient in Unisom, a safe pregnancy sleep aid.

I was coughing so bad my heart rate got so high the dr at urgent care nearly sent me to the hospital. She waited to see if it would go down and then very slowly gave me albuterol and refilled my inhaler. If you have an inhaler (with albuterol) that is completely safe for baby. Just keep track of your heart rate because it can elevate it.
