- It is legal in my country (Canada) to consume alcohol while pregnant.

- It’s illegal to refuse to serve alcohol to a pregnant woman in the province of Ontario. It’s considered gender discrimination.

The premise for the current law is the fetus is not a person and therefore does not have any human rights, whether or not the woman is planning to deliver the fetus/baby.

I’m asking because I know someone that took speed during pregnancy and she wanted to have the baby, which most would consider wrong to do. So that led me to ask what people think about alcohol consumption since this is a big debate. In some cultures, pregnant women can have one drink and it’s not considered taboo or damaging to the fetus.
