Anyone washing new clothes before baby wears them?

I'm thinking I should wash everything before he wears it but this is also my first baby so I'm not sure what's the best thing to do

New clothes often have excess dye or scents on them that may irritate baby so I would wash them before baby wears them.

It's recommended to wash all clothes before wearing them, even for adults, but especially for babies as they tend to have more sensitive skin.  Residual chemicals from processing and germs etc from general handling and shipping/storing should be washed out.  Lots of people use Dreft for babies clothes; I use All Free and Clear so I don't need to use something separate just for baby.

No and the only reason is because I’m not take taking off tags until I know I’m going to use it. I wasted so many clothes with my first because I took all the tags off and couldn’t return for the correct size

I didn’t wash anything before putting it on my current son. He luckily didn’t have sensitive skin so he was fine. I’m not washing before this one either lol

Yes definitely. I’ll be buying a free & clear detergent to wash the baby stuff separately for a while.

On this topic, will you ladies be buying a different detergent than you normally use? I didn’t know there was a baby safe detergent until my know it all brother had a kid and said he’d have to re wash things I washed 😅😂

New born clothes can be sprayed with formaldehyde to keep them looking fresh for shipping, so it’s best to wash before baby wears them.  Same with bedding :)

I was new clothes I get because the thought of all the surfaces and people they’ve touched along their route to the store, never mind the people that tried them on. It makes me feel more comfortable when I know it’s been washed in my washer before wearing them.
