Discrimination?

Sorry in advance for the long post. I am 6+2 today. I informed my boss that I am pregnant (a little earlier than I normally would have) because I miscarried in August and my doctor wanted to do some extra blood work, etc to make sure everything is going ok with this one. So I wanted to make sure he knew why when I asked to leave an hour early a couple days for appointments and didn’t think I was just blowing off work (although I did stay over other days to make up the time). After informing him of this, he mentioned he had been considering asking me if I wanted to transition into a new role in sales and marketing. I am currently the office manager and handle all of the billing for the company. He said this would be a great opportunity to do that because they’d need someone who could do billing while I’m out on maternity leave anyway, so I could work to train my coworker before I have the baby and then come back in my new role.

This all sounded great until yesterday. He said after looking at the job responsibilities, etc that would not work because the position could require me to travel, which I obviously could not do with a newborn baby. So that is basically off the table now. This would have come with a pay increase and larger bonus for bringing in new customers.

In addition to this, he has now started discussing restructuring things between me and my coworker since I will have to be off to have the baby. Essentially having us switch positions. I started out in her job and worked up to where I am now. I feel like that’s a demotion even though he says I would keep some of my same responsibilities and just give her billing. He says it would free up my time to take on other tasks and he hasn’t mentioned it affecting my pay, but again this all stems from me being pregnant. It also means I would lose my office and move to the reception desk where she currently sits. Which seems very much like a demotion to me although he refuses to say that’s what it is. I know that’s what everyone else would think too if they came in one day and all of a sudden we had changed desks.

Would this be pregnancy discrimination? If so, what exactly should I do?
