Kinda crushed

Went to er for sharp cramping. I got a vaginal ultrasound and they said that they see a tiny sac but can't see a baby yet or a heart beat. Is that bad for 5 weeks and 3 days? They said my hcg levels were normal so why couldn't they see anything? I see women on here with 6 week ultra sounds and see a babay and sac clear as day. Could a couple of days really make that much of a difference
