Travelling?

Question

Has anyone tried to travel with their baby yet? I'm stationed overseas and worried about this 16 hour flight I'll have to go on in like a month. Does anyone have any tips? 😀 thanks in advance!

We just took our 13 week old on holiday from New Zealand to Canada. Over 20 hours and 3 flights - longest flight was about 14 hours. 
*We checked the stroller and used a baby carrier in the airport which was great.
*We travelled overnight and booked a bassinet on the plane. We also brought a Cosigo which is like a little tent that goes over the bassinet (can be used on your stroller too). It was pricey but worth it as we could put baby to bed while the plane lights were still on and he slept just like he was at home. 
*Have a smaller bag to take to the toilets for nappy changes. Trying to fit you and a big nappy bag in the toilet once the change table is down is tough! *Ask if there's an accesible toilet on the plane too. Some flights have them and they're much bigger for nappy changes.
*make sure you have extra clothes for bub and you in case of big spews or poos.
*If you're bottle feeding make sure you have extras in case of flight delays or if bub is unsettled. Our guy did lose the plot on our connecting flight but giving him an early feed settled him back down. I did up a schedule on my phone to make sure i knew how many bottles i needed and when i needed to get them ready.
* If you use a pacifier make sure you have spares in your carry on and a clip to keep it on baby and off the plane floor (my guy did manage to drop his on the toilet floor so that was one pacifier binned - yuck)
*Take off didn't seem to bother our bub. He slept and didn't seem to have ear issues. I did make sure he was either feeding or had his pacifier when descending though.
*Most important try not to stress. The calmer you are the calmer bub will be :)

We just did a 12 hr drive for a ski trip which is different but at least on a plane you can hold baby, we had elevation so we did get a little bit of crying from that but it wasn’t bad, he actually did really well the whole trip.
