cry it out during the day for play time?

My son is driving me crazy. He’s so fussy and needy since he was born and I’m so over it. He literally cries 80% of the day. If he’s not crying it’s because I’m holding him walking around trying to settle him. Is he training me to pick him up every time he cries? I’m debating sitting him down to play and letting him cry until he realizes I’m not gonna pick him up. Don’t judge. Honestly unless you’ve experienced this kind of high needs baby you will never understand.
UPDATE: he sleeps fine at night usually just wakes up at 5am eats then back to sleep until 7:30. Sometimes he wakes on other time. Naps fine. Just has always been fussy and crying all day every day since he was born.

Get a carrier and strap him to you. He’s not manipulating you, he’s communicating the only way he knows how.

I’m not judging just curious if you’ve had him checked at all for reflux or some other medical issue? Babies find comfort in their moms and if he’s crying non stop without you holding him it makes me think maybe he has pain somewhere or something else is causing it 🤷‍♀️ I held my daughter every second until I went back to work when she was 4 months and she’s fine if I don’t hold her except for when she’s been sick or when she was teething

I wouldn’t. They don’t know how to manipulate. They’re just babies and depend on you for everything. I just don’t agree with CIO even if it is during play time.

My older daughter was really high needs (and is now a high needs toddler) so I feel your pain and understand the desperation! A few things that helped us at this age was the jolly jumper, exercauser, going for walks in the stroller, occasionally baby wearing would work but not often, and midday baths just for fun. The biggest thing that helped though was putting her on a schedule, not a routine, a schedule. For some reason for her that made a huge difference, once she was eating on a consistent schedule and getting naps consistently things did get easier. I also did some sleep training, definitely make sure you are reading a book, doing some research, and reading up on any sort of CIO. It’s not just letting them cry until they are exhausted or pass out, it’s very important to do timed check and to comfort them. There are also a lot of other sleep training techniques you could try (even though it’s not sleep related) like the chair method or pick up put down, check out Pinterest and read up on whatever you can find! I kind of taught my daughter to play independently by practicing a little each day and switching up the toys and activities. I set up a dedicated play space and I’d start by interacting and then I’d go sit across the room for a few minutes and then I’d come back and check in and then go away again. She eventually got better at entertaining herself and it just took time and patience, I don’t know if what I was doing worked or if it was all developmental. Anyways, I hope things get easier for you soon, and if it makes you feel better my six month old is completely different and so much easier so they aren’t all this tough 😂

Sounds like reflux my daughter was the same way doctor told me it was nothing got a second opinion same thing babies cry third finally agreed and sent my daughter to get a fluoroscopy done Which looks inside your babies body and then to see a gi specialist. No more crying baby here. She was on Zantac which didn’t work now on Prevacid and has a dairy and soy allergy so on nutrimagen formula as well. Don’t take no for an answer or let your doctor just say babies cry or it’s normal

My little likes to be up high so she can see everything we are doing. If she does floor time, it has to be on her schedule, otherwise she's in her high chair, the jumper,or anything else where she can watch my every move. My only argument against crying it out at this age is that they really don't understand cause and effect yet. He wouldn't understand why he's not being picked up, only that a "need" isn't being met. I understand your frustration and I too have been tempted to just let my little cry because she's just being needy. And leaving them there for a minute while you get something done will not hurt them but I wouldn't extend it very long

Mine is going thru separation anxiety at the moment and I can’t leave the room for 10 seconds before she is screaming as though she’s hurt herself. Even though I’m sure she’s fine I have to run back in just to make sure she didn’t get her head stuck under the couch.
I try to sit with her for a bit and if she’s freaking out when I’m beside her I will try to distract her with a toy and if I’m trying to get something done I’ll tote her around from room to room and put her in a bouncy chair or activity gym

Omg I feel your pain!!!!! If I’m not literally sitting in front of him entertaining him or walking around with him he is crying it’s fcking exhausting and I have chronic neck and shoulder pain and he’s 18 lbs so I cannot baby wear him 24-7. Maybe 30 mins🙄 and for the people that say they aren’t manipulative at this age I don’t believe them. I’ll put him down to do dishes where he can see me and hear me and he will cry until I come over really close and then he starts smiling like come on!!!! You could see me and you were still crying until I came close

My daughter was very high needs, colicky and I totally understand how it feels. She would cry cause we weren’t holding her and then when we would hold her she would arch her back and push away a lot of the time. I figured out she had tummy issues and when I got her on the Gerber soothe formula and gripe water that helped so much. Even after that she still was fussy and now a fussy 5 year old lol. Sometimes you just gotta set them down in a safe place and take 5 minutes to yourself. Of course make sure they are in s clean diaper, fed and not hurt. You will find that you will be more patient and feel better if you just take a small break. I have also heard about hairs getting wrapped around their toes and it cutting the circulation off. Babies are really sensitive and even their clothes can bother them. My son is super mellow (complete opposite of his sister) but even he can get fussy and if I’ve tried everything, stripping him down to only his diaper surprisingly makes him happy lol. Every baby is different, maybe even taking him outside in the stroller or a ride in the car can help. Don’t feel ashamed for letting him CIO once in awhile when u need a break. Just make sure all his or her needs are met and they are in a safe place. Good luck momma u got this!

Omg my baby is the sameeeeeee wayyyyyyyyyyy!!!! It’s soooo hard ! She’s so high needs ! She was just starting to get better recently and then the last 2 days crying and crying for no apparent reason. I understand ur pain !
