It’s not wrong because it’s stealing from anyone, but in my experience the more you keep ties with an ex the harder it is to move on with your life. Your ex’s money problems are not your concern, I know that sounds cold but you have to draw the line somewhere. I would cut ties, unless you have a child in common

Why are you giving this “ex” money? Is it important? Life or death? Will the be paying you back? What family are you stealing from? Is it not your money that you’re giving away? Have you been in contact with this “ex”? What type of break up was it?

Do you have a kid with this ex and they need help with child care costs or other expenses? Then sure, it’s good to help them out. Otherwise, absolutely not.
