I wouldn’t say it’s necessary to have nursery be “babyish”; in fact the trend now is simplicity and keeping decorations aligned with something they can grow into. Get some artwork on the wall that you think will look good when they get a few years older. Google some pics for inspiration. It’ll save you money too as opposed to having to change everything every couple of years.

As far as what’s not needed, think about your own situation and how you plan to use the nursery. I had lots of friends tell me they set up a changing table in their nursery but never actually used it because it was just easier to have their diaper stuff in the living room and do it on the couch or use a portable changing pad. So I ended up not getting a changing table. My plan was that we would buy one if we decided we needed it but I just keep a contoured changing pad on the coffee table in the living room and do it there! I also didn’t get a dresser for my nursery. The closet in our nursery has a decent amount of storage and I knew we didn’t want to overbuy tons of clothes just because we had space for them so that was sort of my way to limit myself. I have extra diapers and wipes stored on the very top shelves in the closet with our current size of diapers and some wipes on the more easily accessible shelf (pic attached from early when we were just starting our diaper stash). Then I have clothes hanging on the rod and some crates to form a shelf below for extra stuff.

It’s nice to have a rocking chair, glider, or recliner in there for you to either rock baby in or at least a place you can sit.

a low shelf to put toys on that she can get to, or a book shelf she can reach! babies grown fast and love to explore! we needed a big shelf for storage, but as you can see the bottom is designed for him to reach.same with the two baskets of toys he can get to.now that my son is almost 1 (😭😭) we have a small table but we use to keep a play mat and a little bouncer in his room
