Was it difficult to get a doctor to consider endometriosis for you? *long post I am sorry*
I feel as if i may have endo but I am not sure. My doctor says that it’s not even something she is interested in looking in to because not that many women actually have it according to her.
Some back ground info:
I started my periods when I was 10 or 11 and almost instantly I was put on birth control because I was bleeding way too much. I started for the first time and then continued to bleed every day for 2 months. My periods have never been regular it’s not uncommon to have more than one period a month and I can never tell you what day it will be arriving. They are extremely heavy forcing me to wear overnight pads every day and change very often. I get horrible cramps and aches to the point that it hurts to move my body in general along with so many other almost debilitating symptoms like fatigue, dizziness, lower back pain, etc. I know from scans and things in the past that i have a retroverted uterus and ovarian cysts but my doctor says there’s no reason they should cause me this much difficulty but she is also confused by the amount of blood even she sees when doing a pelvic exam. I have seen 4 different doctors and tried literally every method of birth control available and nothing helped. Most doctors think I am just dramatic and making my period out to be worse than it actually is. My last appointment they told me that “it’s just the way your body is why don’t you try losing some weight and see if that helps”. I have also been trying to get pregnant for 8 months now with no luck and we are a generally healthy 20 and 23 year old couple. My mom had endo as well as polyps in her ovaries causing her to have a hysterectomy and she had the same problems as I have been having for 10 years now her whole life and nothing helped but the surgery. I don’t know how to cope with this pain or what is causing it and I feel like if I had some sort of diagnosis like endo I would at least know what’s causing it and be able to manage it better. It’s not that I want to have it it’s just that is what my symptoms seem to be. Any advice?
