Toddler spitting out medicine?

My 19 mo recently started keeping his medicine in his mouth then likes to spit it out and laugh. I don’t know how to prevent this. Any advice would be appreciated :)

What I ended up doing is having someone else hold them like a baby, then inserting the syringe as far back as I could get it and squirting it into their cheek. Then blow in their face until they swallow. When mine was on antibiotics, I'd mix it in her milk, up with a bit of a popsicle, yogurt, anything I knew she'd eat.

Have you tried mixing it with water in a cup? When my son refused to let us give him meds we would put a little bit of water in a sippy cup and give it to him that way. Only thing is sometimes they refused to drink it or only drink half.
