ATTENTION LADIES I NEED YOUR HELP
The story of the woman who was adopted searching for her bio dad inspired me to help someone. I’ve seen how helpful you all have been. Here’s the dilemma I work as a service coordinator and the consumer I support has not seen his 2 daughters in 15 or so years. He told me about his children during his assessment when I asked him is he sad, depressed, or hopeless. He stated that he is often sad when he thinks about his daughters and how much he misses them. So I told him about this awesome
GLOW story and he said he would love for someone to help him find his daughters. He misses them a lot he even cried. I don’t know what happened to cause them to stop talking. He did tell me a little but there’s always 3 sides to a story. This is where the dilemma kicks in I told my boss about this a staff made a comment about not getting attached to the consumers then my boss said don’t help him find them it’s against HIPPA. I don’t really understand how it’s against HIPPA if I’m not releasing his medical info etc. And he gave me permission to take a photo of him and old pictures he has of his daughters. Anyways I was able to locate his daughters online (he’s older and don’t know how to use technology). What should I do? Should I give his daughter his number? Should I tell him how he can contact them? What should I do I feel horrible knowing I have the information to connect him to his children and don’t do anything to help. I also would like to keep my job.
I think I’m going to give it until the weekend to think about it. I’ll pray on it. Btw I’m not taking a side because I don’t know the truth. I want to believe no abuse happened but you never know. & I’m hoping that’s not the case here.
