How much money do you spend on clothes for yourself a year?

Tayler

I think of myself as pretty frugal, but for particular items like shoes, bags and jackets I will spend spend more money for premium items because I think that those types of purchases are sort of like investments in a product that you want to last a long time, possibly for years of use. But in general, my every day attire will be pretty thrifty and I probably don’t spend more than $500 a year on common items like t-shirts and pants. With the addition of a couple high ticket items I probably clock in at around 500-1000 dollars a year that I spend on clothes. Anytime I buy new clothing my husband sort of acts annoyed that I’m wasting money on clothes but I don’t think that I’m really that big of a spender, I think 500-1000 dollars a year is pretty damn reasonable. Im just curious, what do you guys think is a reasonable amount of money to spend on clothes in a year?

I like walmart 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t buy myself much, honestly. Sometimes its just some cheap shirt. I wear the same stuff over and over. I hate letting go of stuff. So, I don’t usually add much to it.. That way I don’t have too much. Buuuut. I am wanting to let go of things & start over. I just hate spending money on myself.. and clothes. But I honestly wouldn’t mind having new stuff. Guess im so used to older things. How it was as a kid. We hardly had new clothes.. always shopped at thrift stores with the little money parents had. & I guess I’m just used to the old lifestyle. 💁🏻‍♀️ Oh well. I still have clothes & still have some money.

It’s so hard for me. I can get other people stuff. But me..? Eh. I try to do it once in awhile. Sometimes it’s put back up. Maybe it’s a good thing. So I don’t go crazy with money. 😂

I'm the same way... I have to convince myself to buy something new... but now I'm learning to treat myself every once in awhile

i think it’s all up to you on what’s a reasonable amount of money to spend a year. that sounds pretty damn responsible to me. and c’mon, a lady needs to treat herself once in a while.

As a mom I forget about myself all the time. I’m always shopping for my kids. But this year a chunk of my tax return is going towards a new wardrobe! Going to consignment, better bang for your buck.

I dont typically spend anything each year per say. I might occasionally get something clearance (less than $3) but definitely not on a regular basis. I buy things as I need them. I have had my tennis shoes for 2-3 years and just replaced them. But the new ones are white, so I still typically wear my old ones lol it makes me sick to pay full price for anything though lol so for me I guess it would be like less than $50 a year, if even that much...

I'm pretty simple when it comes to clothes. T-shirt and jeans or a nice top. I'm very frugal so I don't spend alot. It's very rare I spend more than $8 on a top. Jeans I'll spend a little more, but no more than $25. I shop at Wal-Mart, Ross etc.

I'm super cheap for stuff for myself. I pretty much only shop clearance. If it's cheaper I can get more. I even buy boys tennis shoes instead of womens because they fit and they're $20-40 cheaper. And I get good deals on Amazon. With my kids though, they usually get full price clothes but it's mostly target and Walmart. I dont think I've ever spent $1000 a year even when my clothes got lost in a move.

I don't buy low quality shoes, at all. But I still probably only spend, maybe $500 a year on clothing items. Probably less.

We don't really buy clothes unnecessarily. I repair what we can and we try to buy clothes that last vs clothes that look cute.
