The earliest could be 7dpo but only if you implanted at 6 DPO. Implantation occurs between 6-12 DPO and a positive will only happen after implantation. 
So to answe the question is the EARLIEST would be 7 but it is not the best or most accurate. I think the best time would be 14 (or the day of missing period) as long as you know for sure when you ovulated with OPK and temperature charting.
