Diagnosing gestational diabetes - Urine and GTT
I had my 25 week midwife appointment last week and my urine tested positive for glucose (I’d had cornflakes for breakfast). Midwife said she’ll refer me for GTT at my 28 week appt if it tests positive again.
So since then I’ve been testing my urine myself and am positive for glucose after most meals (I’m testing 1hr afterwards).
Based on this I phoned the midwife to ask for GTT (it’s not offered to everyone here) but she said wait until my next appt and take a sample from before I eat anything. My issue is - I know this will test negative so she won’t refer me.
Can anyone offer advice please? Did you have any other symptoms before being diagnosed? Should I insist on being referred for GTT?
I’m getting very anxious as I just want to know for definite - my mind is getting carried away, and it’s another 2 weeks until I see midwife again!
Sorry for the long post!
