So we are taking a 5 night (we will be gone a week but not counting the two overnight flights) trip for my 30th bday during the first week of September.

We have decided on either staying in Dublin or Rome. We would rent a car in Dublin and travel around Ireland but would have to come back to Dublin to our hotel to stay every night, or stay in Rome and probably do a day trip by bullet train to Florence and probably Pompeii another day but again end our night in Rome where our hotel is.

I’ve been to Italy twice before and I’ve been to Scotland and England but never to Ireland, though my husband has.

Anyone from Ireland or those who have traveled there want to tell me if the idea of going to different places during the day but ending in Dublin every night could realistically work by car? Also, is early September a trash time to go to Ireland as far as weather/rain?

They are so different, I just can’t decide what I want to do! Opinions, ladies?
