Labor & Delivery *its long*
February 1st..
7:00am: Got admitted and was put in my room I’d be staying in for a few days. Around 7:30 I got my cervadil inserted. Walked around the hospital as much as I could. Didn’t feel anything until 12pm, very light cramping. Around 6pm it started to get stronger, I had to breathe through them. I didn’t get any pain meds until I felt I needed them. I wanted to rest up for the big day so around 10pm I got morphine & knocked out. 😅
February 2nd..
5:00am: got woken up by my nurses, was told to shower and get ready for 6am.
6:00am: was brought to my labor room, got into a gown & got my IV around 6:30 (it took one nurse 4 tries to get it in.. failed each time. Got another nurse and she got it in the first try. Hurt like a bitch!🙄) I was getting oxytocin through my IV, they increased it every 15 minutes.
7:00am: My water broke on its own after being on the oxytocin for 20 minutes! lol. It felt so weird, I thought baby kicked me hard until I felt fluid come out of me! 😂 It wouldn’t stop coming out, every move I made. 😂 I had to stand up so she could put new pads down and a blanket. Then the anesthesiologist came in
7:30am: I got into position for my epidural, and I was shaking like a wet dog I was so nervous 😂 my SO stood in front of me to hold me. I leaked water all over his leg/foot😂 The epidural didn’t hurt as I thought it would. Just cold pressure. I started to get hot/nauseous but went away quickly. I remember telling my nurse “I think I deserve a popsicle after this” she’s laughs and says “oh yes of course!” 😂
I was in and out of sleep until 12:30pm. I got my cervix checked and was at 4cm dilated & 50% effaced. I started to feel my contractions on my right side, I breathed through them. Y’all controlling your breathing helps a TON. She upped my epidural for me a few times but it did nothing for me. 🤷🏽♀️ I faintly remember my SO leaving with his mom at 1pm to the bank. 20 minutes later I start to feel pressure in my vagina so I let my nurse know and she checks me, I was fully dilated! She asked if I felt like I needed to push I said no, then she tells me she’s gonna get the room ready and to let her know when I wanna push. I felt like I wanted to push 10 minutes after... my mom calls my SO and tells them to hurry back. I tried my best to wait for him. Luckily I was able to! Right when he got back I was ready to push. Y’all pushing was so weird, I felt like I wasn’t doing anything! 😂 I kept saying “I feel like I’m not doing anything” they kept saying “you are! We see his head coming” i was so tired! I wanted to stop, but they kept saying “you’re almost there!” I started to cry 😂😂 I was exhausted. I got mad at them bcuz they said “you’re almost there!” I said “you said that already!” 😂 Then they cut me, so I could get him out easier. After that he was out in 5 minutes. It took me an hour of pushing to see my boy. 💖 Honestly.. labor & delivery wasn’t bad like everyone makes it out to be. But maybe I have my epidural to thank idk. 🤷🏽♀️ I would 10/10 do this again.
