What I did differently this month to finally get pregnant
We just got the happy news that we’re expecting! And I feel like I should share with all you ladies some of the things I did this past month that was different than others that (I feel) helped me get pregnant. I know some may feel like these things won’t work for them, but this is just what I find worked for ME.
-Cut our the things in my life and diet that we’re possibly causing inflammation: Now, I LOVE my vino, and I’m a believer in the “drink till it’s pink” mindset. BUT, until this month I was drinking more than 3 glasses a night. That is a lot of inflammation! So after I knew I ovulated, I didn’t drink. I also read that more than 5 glasses a week can decrease chances of implantation (up to 60% believe). I also enjoy coffee with cream and sugar, so I decreased my sugar intake and had coffee only once and a while. So anything that would possibly dehydrate or cause inflammation was limited and not made part of my daily routine. Keep in mind too that stress/high cortisol is also linked to inflammation.
-Kept feet warm: A friend of mine who is a TCM suggested I try this. There is a connection between the feet and the uterus, so he suggested always making sure my feet were warm and cozy and never barefoot for long.
-Warm baths and aromatherapy: This was HUGE for me since a warm bath, soft lighting, lavender oils and some meditation music used to be a common thing for me to enjoy. But I let it fall away in the business of life. So I made this my nightly routine. It was time to care for myself, and I used it as time to reconnect with my body and visualize it as a beautiful home for my baby. I would do a few moments of meditation, feeling gratitude as if I was already pregnant. Again, this was daily! I felt that this really completed my “holistic approach” to my ttc journey. I did my best to be the body and spirit that my baby would feel they could be kept in safely and happily for the next 9 months.
-Kept my home like a yoga studio: Warm, low lighting (always!) clean and played spa music softly anytime I was home. My fiancé even made the comment that the home “felt so comforting lately”
-Easiest exercise routine ever (lol): I literally only did brisk walking, on varied inclines, for 20-30 minutes a day. Exercise is different for everyone, but this one worked for me. I would get some natural sunlight with walks with my dog and really use it as “quality time” with her.
-Cleared up any outstanding things that needed to be addressed so my whole tww was only about preparing to receive the pregnancy: I had emails that I had neglected to send, follow ups about tax forms that were worrying/stressing me, appointments to book. I just followed up on them all, and all the things I was stressed about turned out to either be nothing or a positive experience! All these things getting cleared from my plate was a huge weight lifted.
-Kept up with basic ttc things: prenatal vitamins, eating healthy (mostly high veg/protein and low carb), kept a water bottle with me and drank lots of water, monitored my fertile window, and had sex every day leading up to, on and after ovulation day.
-We made love instead of just doin’ it lol. We had been so clinical about making a baby, that we forgot that there was another soul involved in this process. Yes, it is a science, but the beauty in creating life was something we both needed to reconnect with.
I know this may seem like a lot of things, but I honestly had fun with it! I kept my energy light, had fun making the healthy foods, really basked in pampering myself, and loved being like a couple teenagers in love with my fiancé.
Sending ENDLESS baby dust, love, and support to each and everyone of you ladies!!!!💗💗💗
