That’s what the Rhogam shot is for.. dont listen to that doctor. She sounds like my old obgyn just a hater. I had a miscarriage in 2015 never tried for a baby after.. im also RH negative O negative to be exact. But she should’ve given you the Rhogam shot it prevents miscarriage of opposite rh again.

You’re welcome, I feel like some doctors are just 😒. If i was a doctor i would try to help everyone get pregnant lol. But i do have a question because i have yet to get the shot, do you have to get it with every pregnancy? That’s my only concern. Push for it honestly I would, if he doesn’t listen see another doctor i know he’s a family doctor but it’s always best to get another opinion or two 💙

All you needed and need for any future pregnancy is a rh shot . Very simple fix

All you need is the rhogam shot. I’m th negative and I have four healthy children and have had four miscarriages. I had to get the shot after each miscarriage to protect the next pregnancy. I would look into finding a new ob

You don’t have to have it. It just helps. I had two healthy pregnancies without it after miscarriages

She didn't have the shot after her miscarriage

Do some more research. I have it too but haven't been sensitized since my son was negative, and I received the shot as soon as I started bleeding with my miscarriage. The shot keeps you from being sensitized, but it does not prevent rh disease once you have already been sensitized. I would still get a second opinion - there are things that can be done to keep your baby safe and healthy. <3

Aw that's a bummer! If your next baby is positive, then your body will attack it's red blood cells, which can be very serious. They can do blood transfusions through the umbilical cord now if you have severe rh disease, and thr baby would likely need to spend some time in the NICU. I would just ask what the worst and best case scenarios might be before you take having children off the table completely. I am waiting for my next appointment to find out if I was somehow sensitized by my miscarriage, or if it was because I had the shot esrly in this pregnancy. I wish you the best girl!!

@mary there's not much research. I'm in the middle of my 2nd moth of colomid tttc.

By the way, did they do an autopsy on the baby you miscarried and know for sure that it was rh disease that caused the miscarriage? If not, then there is no way to know that is the reason, or that thr baby did not share your blood type. I'm sorry you are going through this. Miscarriage sucks!!

Your dr may be right or may just be trying to cover themselves. I would get a 2nd opinion and learn all of your options. It could be risky, but it also might be worth the risk. Only you can decide. <3

Again, that's assuming that the baby was rh positive. My firstborn is negative, even though my husband is positive. There is a chance that you were, but it is not definite that you were, and there is no solid reason to think that it is your blood type that caused thr miscarriage in the first place, particularly if you have never been exposed in the past.

@mary my Dr says that I had to be sensatized when I miscarried. I was only 5 weeks and 5 days when I mc

From what I know, that isn't the reason for miscarriage but because you bled, you need the rhogam shot. You will need it with every pregnancy but not until the end, unless you experience bleeding at some point during pregnancy. It's more to protect YOU from the baby's potential positive blood and your future babies, actually. That's my understanding at least!

Um I would find a new OB, that's just ridiculous. Plenty of rh- women have healthy pregnancies which turn to healthy babies.
