Judgmental people

I’m 14, in 8th grade, my boyfriend is about to turn 16, a freshmen, and people seem to disapprove because of our age difference. He’s afraid to talk about me with his other friends because they make fun of him, calling me an 8-year-old. I don’t understand how people can be so judgmental about something that doesn’t even concern them?
