Is this latch deep enough?

My son was born on Thursday and I’m exclusively breastfeeding. He had a hard time latching and it’s been hard work but does this look like he’s now latched successfully?

Looks good to me. See how he's got a lot of areola in his mouth, not just nipple? And the top lip looks good and flanged out (think fish lips). You want to listen and watch his throat for frequent swallows, but looks like you're doing great

Yes it does! He should have a whole mouth full of boob and his bottom chin and throat should move when he sucks. If his jaws sink in when he suck, he does not have a deep latch.

You’ll know if he’s not latched on good because it’ll be a sharp pain in your nipple or like you’re getting a hickey on your breast lol. Way to go momma! 😁
