Did you have to talk your husband or significant other into having a baby or another baby?

I’m a bit worried that my husband will never want another baby. My son just turned 2, and I will be 35 in in 2 days. I always imagined having a big family, and when we first got married, I think my husband said 2 kids would be ideal.. but he had a rough time adjusting to our first (it impacted our relationship more than we expected, but I feel like we are doing better now). He said that maybe in a few years he would change his mind, but I don’t want our kids to be too spaced out in age. Did any of you go through anything similar? Did your spouse change his mind? If so, what made him change his mind?

Both our children were surprises. But now that we have two I know I’m done. And my husband really wants another one. He feels we need to try for a boy we have two girls and I don’t think he can convince me to have more. 
But I think that he’s saying in a few years is a silver lining that he is open to it

It was actually the other way around. I didnt want anymore children after our second. Shortly after getting pregnant we relocated to another state and to top it off I had a really rough pregnancy (hospitalized for preterm labor). But we talked a lot and I heard him out and he heard me. We eventually decided to have another baby. But this is for sure our last. This pregnancy is scaring me like the last one.

This is something that should be discussed long before you even get married. You shouldn't have to convince your spouse to have a child. Ever. That's another human life. I'd never talk my husband into having another baby if I knew that wasn't what he wanted.

He wanted them to be close in age so he actually convinced me.. Soo yeah, our boys will be 19 months apart. ☺️

We needed to do IVF for our baby, so it was a HUGE conversation and cost.  We agreed with my health, age (I am older than him) and cost that we shouldn't have another one.  Well I found out I am pregnant naturally.  It's not what we wanted or what we agreed to, but here we are.

It’s okay to have a conversation to express how you’re feeling and communicate what you’d want, but it’s not fair to “talk them into” something they just don’t want. Sometimes people change their minds once a possibility becomes a reality, and you have to accept that he’s not ready for another child right now, and may not be ready for a few years or ever.
To be perfectly honest, coming from the baby of three kids, it really doesn’t matter how close or how far apart siblings are in age. Whether or not they get along has way more to do with their own personalities. So if it happens to take a while to get your second child, just know that the age difference really won’t matter much.

We've always been on the same page as far as kids go. It was an important discussion for us to have before we started getting too serious with our relationship. Its something we both knew we wanted and we wanted a partner who felt the same. It's one area of life we weren't willing to negotiate on so finding someone with the same views was incredibly important to both of us. Thankfully we both felt/feel the same way. Unfortunately my body did not. So we've had to do some tweaking of plans and a whole lot of hoping but ultimately if my body will allow it, we do still want the same things as before.
