my mother’s real dad lies about being a vietnam veteran, read for some laughs.

Reed

this is a long one, but a good one, i figured there would be ladies who would get a laugh out of this, especially military spouses. stay tuned.

so my mother wasn’t raised by her actual father, she was lucky enough to have my “papaw” as her step dad. he is an amazing wonderful man with a huge heart.

so recently my mothers real dad, let’s call him dwight, lost his wife. he couldn’t afford to live at home anymore without her income so my mom offered to let him live in our house until he could get somewhere he could afford. he was only supposed to be there for a few months because he has a history of cheating my mom financially.

stay with me.

so when we were children this man told my brother that he was a war vet. in vietnam. so we believed him, we only met him once before. we believed this for years.

so eventually this gets back to my grandmother, his first wife. keep in mind that both of my grandfathers on my mom and dads side (not including dwight) ARE vietnam vets, and my step dad is a veteran as well.

let me tell y’all this was her reaction when my brother said something about him being a war vet.

SHE TELLS US that he was never in vietnam, he was in okinawa japan, and his job was to listen to radios that they thought had info about “charlie” which was still an important job, but definitely not the same as being in vietnam. he never saw war and was discharged shortly after they went to japan.

AND ON TOP OF THAT he went to prison for tax fraud! my nana was SPILLING THE TEA.

his current wife (rest in peace, she was so sweet) believed he was actually a war vet their whole relationship.

so fast forward to now, he lives with us. has been here for almost a year, was only supposed to be here for a few months.

so the day he moves in my ever so wonderful fiancé offers to help him move his stuff and show him around town.

he says the first few words out of his mouth were about war stories he supposedly had. he could barely hold in his laughter. he lies about everything!!!

the funniest one to date is he lied about having internet in the fifties. my sister is in middle school, and her grades started dropping. my mother recently found out about an app called powerschool that lets her see my sisters grades. he said “i had that in school my parents looked at it every day! i couldn’t get away with bad grades” i don’t even think he knew what he was talking about.

something is so seriously wrong with this man. if you made it this far, i hope you had a good laugh.

UPDATE: he does not have anything wrong with his brain. no dementia or anything like that. he’s been lying for over 40 years, and is perfectly healthy.
