12 DPO - negative test

I’m 12 dpo & still getting a negative HPT 😫 I feel like I’m out this month. My close friend is telling me to wait until I actually miss my period - but idk I have a feeling I’m not. Has anyone ever tested negative at 12dpo but then positive days later after missing a period?
