Trouble conceiving at the age of 25 😕
Who knew that for the last 10 years I essentially had my own natural birth control 🤷🏼♀️
I have been on the birth control pill since I was 14, I had terrible acne so I was on this a bit earlier then needed but it really helped keep it under control. Whilst on birth control for the last 10 years I’ve had break through bleeding mid cycle, so I have tried the implant, different bc pills and then as a last ditch effort I had the depo shot.
* i should say that I have wanted a baby for years but just knew it wasn’t the right time for us so I stayed on birth control *
So I had my depo shot, about a month in I woke up for work one morning and I just woke my partner up and told him ‘I want to have a baby’ he sleepily tells me he wants one too. From that morning we had to wait for the full 12 weeks/3 months for the shot to wear off then we we would start trying for our first baby
Fast forward 10 months and still no period, I booked in for a doctors visit which led me to blood tests to check hormone levels and an external and internal ultrasound to make sure everything is as it should be. Couldn’t see any issues from all tests, had a nice little follicle on my right side which the doctor told me was a good sign. So i went on with a referral to a specialist, we started of with this tablet I needed to take for 10 days then I had to wait for up to 2 weeks to get a period, they worked it was the worst period pain I have had in my life but I was glad to have my period back. I did this plus more blood tests to check for ovulation and a HSG.
Results showed that I am definitely ovulating as my levels reached 54 (way over the needed 14) but HSG not so good. They found that my uterus is very tilted to the right and they weren’t able to get any dye through the left tube, it essentially stopped at the uterus and only a small amount was able to sneak its way into the right tube.
I’m now booked in to have a diagnostic laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. I’m really hoping for some good news following this surgery, I’m hoping I can at least use one tube 🤞🏻 Although the doctor said in the worst case we could try through IVF if we can’t diagnose why the tubes are blocked 😕☹️
