At what age did you retire your child’s pacifier?

How long did your baby use a a pacifier? Feel free to post comments as to why. My son is 3 months old but I like to plan ahead!

He used it from 3 to 7 months, and stoppes completely on his own. He just didn't like it anymore.

Mine only used it at naps and night time after 12 months. We dropped it cold turkey at 24 months with no problems. I went longer than I wanted.. but I was dreading dropping it. Daycare dropped it long before I did.. and I just didnt know.. lol.

My 1st was 2.5yo. That was longer than I wanted to go. She only used it during sleeping. And finally one nap I just said I couldn’t find it and she had to be a big girl and sleep without it. She never went back. My son is 19th months and still uses his, but doesn’t need it all the time, mostly for sleeping. I plan to have it gone by 2. I’m not a fan of my kids having it forever. Sometimes I feel we need to intervene and just take it away. My 3rd is only 8w and uses one all the time. I’ll follow her lead on it but again, I’ll plan to have it gone by 2.

We tossed ours between 12 and 15 months. It's best to use them for at least 6 months and then get rid of them by 18 months..

When my daughter started spitting it out the cot constantly and it became a game, at five and half months . We took it away cold turkey and have never looked back.

My son was over 2 but we never intended to use it that long. He has chronic ear infections and needed tubes which he got at 18 months. He only used it for naps and bed but it was the only way he would sleep

Mine got rid of hers on her own at about 6 months. But every baby is different. I think dentists recommend to get rid of it before 4 years old. So it doesn't mess with their teeth.

My son retired it himself at 2 months old. Which sucked at the time, because it was a life saver to get him to nap. He started to self soothe without it a few weeks later. 
Now, looking back, I’m glad he gave it up himself.

My son quit taking it around 2 months. My daughter is 5 months and still takes it. I figure once she learns to self soothe at night I'll wean her off the pacifier. 😐
