Period with implant?

I got the implant recently because I have very heavy periods. My period was supposed to start 5 days ago and Ive been cramping like crazyyy for weeks. Is this normal?

Yes, completely normal. Progestin only methods like the implant are most known for causing irregular bleeding/spotting patterns. That can include longer time frames with or without bleeding, random bleeding, or frequent bleeding, at any given time. It’s also possible & normal to experience other side effects at any given time, regardless of any bleeding. And, all of this is especially common during the first 6 months while ur body is adjusting to the birth control.

Answer

I would say yes. The implant made me extremely irregular, random periods, PMS symptoms almost always, spotting for months at a time, etc. I decided to have it removed after a year. If these symptoms still occur after 6 months of being on the implant and are really bothersome, i would recommend talking to your doctor about another option.
