Finally tried it!
Hi! I’m 14 years old and have had my period for maybe 6 months, so I’m not very experienced and have only used tampons a couple times. It usually works fine, I use normal sized without applicator if it matters. Recently I’ve read a lot about cups and eventually I decided to get a monthly cup mini, it’s the smallest one I’ve found and it was available at a supermarket where my family often shop. I’m on day 4 with the cup now and I’m so happy I tried it!
I was surprised by how easy it is to insert, for me it’s easier than inserting a tampon. I use the triangle fold and haven’t had any trouble with it.
I’m getting better at telling if it’s sealed properly, but I’m still not very confident in that area. I’ve only leaked once but I’m still nervous it’ll happen again. I can only get one finger in besides the cup so the only thing I can really do is check that it feels round, like it is fully open. Does anyone have other tips for checking if it is sealed properly?
Because of the same reason taking it out is also a bit of a task. Luckily I only have to do it twice a day. My cup doesn’t “ride up” either, not even at night, which makes it a whole lot easier. Anyways, I usually just stick a finger up next to the cup and push it to the side so the seal breaks, then I push it downwards both with the finger and my muscles. When the stem is out I grab it with my other fingers and help pull it out. This whole process takes about 5-10 minutes, but it’s worth not having to constantly worry about remembering to bring pads/tampons and always finding a bathroom.
But I have to say it’s still a bit weird seeing all that blood when you take the cup out. It’s just so much blood. Everywhere.
Anyways, that’s basically it. If anyone have any tips for a beginner with the cup I would love to hear them!
Also, english isn’t my first language, so I’m sorry for any errors.
