My baby/labor story
Hello all! It’s been a wonderful 3 weeks with my second little one so I figured it was time to share her whirlwind story! Let me start by saying, my first baby girl came into the world after 23 hours of labor (epidural after 15 hard hours) and 2 pushes) she is now a thriving 21 month old!
Anywho. Back to baby2...
January 29th I went to work like any other morning (I teach middle school) and I go about my business as usual. Morning bell comes and goes and I begin to teach my first class (7:40am). Well, at 8am on the dot I have my first contraction. No big deal, I can continue to teach through them and keep it moving. Thinking to myself, “I’ll tough it out to my morning planning time and I’ll find a sub and go home and continue to labor in comfort before going in”. I text my husband my plan and he is on board.
Fast forward to 8:45. My contractions are now only 5 mins apart and I can no longer teach through them. So I text my admin team my SOS and they come tag-team teach my class so I can leave ASAP. I call my lovely husband to come get me (obviously I can’t drive like this!)
Husband shows up at 9:15 (my contractions now being only 3 mins apart and require SERIOUS concentration and breathing to get through) we grab my keys since my bag and everything is already in my SUV and he asks “we going home? Or to the hospital” I laugh and almost yell “to the hospital!” We leave at 9:25 to head to the hospital.
We get to the hospital and through the ER up to L&D at exactly 9:46. I change out of my clothes and get on the bed to check my progress. My doctor comes in and is WAY too happy for my mood at that time. Y’all, I was struggling with these contractions. I told him “hey doc, order those good meds because I am NOT doing this for the next 20 hours...” (thinking it was going to go similarly like last time I was in labor. MAYBE a few hours less, I was hopeful.
He checks me and literally his words were “well, okay. That’s her head. So that’s not going to happen Jenn... you’ll have a baby in 15 mins or less here”
My exact reaction “uh. You’re kidding me. NO!” I can’t do this!
He said “yep. I’m serious. It can’t get any worse on the pain scale, you can do this” as he says that my water breaks and I tell him I feel like I need to push.
He goes to suit up and the nurse tells me to “practice” pushing for a few mins while we wait.
Well I practiced all right, 2 pushes and he caught my beautiful baby girl and she was born at 10:13am.
Holy hell y’all. Exactly 2 hours and 13 mins of labor. It was insane.
So we called our parents to tell them she was here and they’re all like “you mean you’re heading to the hospital...?” Nope, she’s here. And NOW we can all laugh about her dramatic entrance!
