my MIL speaks to her son/my bf strangely
okay so i know it’s not weird but when we all have a convo she only directs her statements, questions, literally any words at him. for example “my boy” or “babe” or “baby” like several times throughout the entire conversation. so i never join in because it feels as though i’m interrupting. also not a big deal cause i’m quiet.
like example talking about our dog
“so my boy does roxy still chew on your things”
or while i’m in the room she’ll speak of me as i’m not there
like
“so babe is jenna still going to visit her mom this summer?”
but the one thing that i find odd is she refers to herself as “mommy” and speaks in the third person.
for example, when we visit her, she says
“babe, did you put ur laundry out for mommy?”
i think it’s strange because he’s 25..
it’s just that i was raised with very conservative, harsh parents so i’m not used to my parents ever speaking like that to me or any of my siblings (or their grandkids).
it’s honestly probably just me. it doesn’t bug me or anything, just curious if anyone else has ever felt like this or been in a similar situation ??
but just share your opinion! disclaimer; no offense to anyone either. definitely not judging just my own curiousness!!! i’d like to get some insight on this, haha thanks in advance.
