Has anyone taken mucinex around this time?

I read it was safe, my dr would not get back to me and I've been literally dying for 4 days. So I bought some and took it twice. I finally got a response and it said decongestants were not recommended. Now I'm worried! Is it ok that I took it??

That’s so strange. My doctor said it was perfectly fine. I took it when I had a bad cold. I’m fine and the baby is fine. I guess maybe it’s per doctor.

My doctor said it’s totally fine for 3-5 days max, but you have to get the plain old regular kind (or no “D,” no “max,” etc.).  It was actually really hard to find this basic one! Good luck!

When I was really sick around 4 and a half months I took Mucinex every 12 hours for almost a month and my little guy is perfectly fine. Normally most things you aren't suppose to take are just in the first trimester (except of course major things like Nyquil, painkillers, etc).

There’s almost no consensus when it comes to “what’s safe” for pregnant women. I have a cold and Dr. Google made it sound like I would murder my child if I had my favorite tea to treat a sore throat, but then my midwife said it’s fine! 🤷🏻‍♀️ My attitude is “everything in moderation.” It’s not like we’re taking OTC drugs or drinking herbal teas every day, just when we need a little relief. I wouldn’t worry!

My doctor said I can take Claritin D and Sudafed. Although I have high blood pressure so I cannot take them 😭😩

She emailed me back saying it was fine if I took it... well then why say no at first? I did research on it and it's basically tylenol and claritin ingredients. Plus its non-drowsy. I would think drowsy medication would be worse for you like benadryl, but that's just me thinking.

My doc said no mucinex.. but I’m sure one time won’t hurt you! I just wouldn’t take it anymore
