We did technically two round of IUI. The first we picked a day to start because my period was late due to not ovulating. Turned out I got my period the day of my follicle scan so had to start all over. The next round i overstimulated, my doctor wont continue with IUI if there are more than three mature follicles and I had four. So they offered for me to either cancel the cycle and have timed intercourse and try again next month if not pregnant, or I could do an IVF conversion at half the cost. So we went with IVF. Of the four eggs only two fertilized and one of those fertilized abnormally, so at day three we only had one healthy fertilized egg. We implanted day three since I didn’t have any other eggs it didn’t make sense to wait. And, it was successful! I’m 24+4 today with a healthy baby girl. 
So, keep up the hope. There’s a lot in this story that i didn’t go into detail but my point is just because you don’t get the answer you expected, doesn’t mean there isn’t another answer that will get you where you want.
