Hey Ladies,

I am hoping for some advice to give my son who is stuck in a social situation at school. He knows a boy from class (cause they were pair up for a project) that seems to be a bit socially awkward. The kid has text my son over a dozen times that he is depressed and doesn’t want to live. I told my son that we are reporting this kid to the school counselor, which we did.

My son was freaking about this kid’s text messages and I told him this is not your responsibility to counsel this kid’s emotional problems.

Now, my son hangs out with a group of kids that he has known since elementary school and the kids in the group don’t care for the emotional kid because he is annoying and goes around telling a lot of people he is depressed but then he’ll do weird stuff in the lunch yard like yell out loud for everyone to hear because he is playing a game on his phone and seems to want attention.

Now the emotional kid is texting my son to know why everyone is avoiding him. My son doesn’t know what to say. My son doesn’t want to be his friend either. Please advise on how to handle this situation.
