Why can’t you microwave breastmilk ?

I know it’s because it can create hot spots but if you shake it after wouldn’t take make it all mix? How would I heat up a bottle of expressed milk when we’re out of the house?

Swirled, not shaken.... you aren't supposed to shake breast milk. I always just set the bottle in a bowl of hot water. Takes a little planning ahead, but if you're feeding on a schedule, shouldn't be a problem.

I will normally try to get it room temp before we go somewhere. It will last 4 hours and if it’s freshly expressed, 6-8? Hours. I tried the tommee tippee travel bottle warmer but it took so long. I honestly hate warming up with water because I’m constantly checking to make sure it doesn’t get too hot. I use the beaba bottle warmer which is amazing in my opinion. 2.5 minutes every time. It’s also small and could be used in the car if you have an outlet. I would check wattage though. I have not tried this yet but will be doing next time.

Your not supposed to shake breast milk. It will break down nutrients, as will microwaving it. Use a bottle warmer or a bowl of hot water to warm up. If your warming a lot, a bottle warmer is totally worth the investment! We have the munchkin one and love it!

Breast milk can also be served room temp or even refrigerated ! 
You can always keep a thermos with you, that’s partially full with hot water & heat the milk up in there when you sense baby is about to eat!

You only need to warm it for your baby’s preference. My daughter surprised me and takes it cold from the fridge or room temp.

Breastmilk can be served at room temperature. It doesn’t need to be heated up really unless it’s still frozen... then I just run it under warm tap water to get it to room temperature.

I microwave it for about 8 second (he's drinking 4 oz) to take the chill off. You can always microwave a mug of water and set the bottle in the hot water to warm up.
