Severely Left Tilted Uterus Due to Endometriosis
During my sono HSG to test for blocked tubes my dr said I have a severely tilted cervix. It is pretty much laying sideways to the left. Now my gyno never mentioned it when I was seen last seen (6 months ago). I started noticing a change putting in tampons about a year ago but didn't think much of it. Originally I couldn't get them seated comfortably until I figured out I had to angle it to the side. The last few cycles I've had I noticed I have to angle almost towards my hip so I'm guessing it wasn't tilted as much during my gyno exam which was why it wasn't mentioned. I do have some symptoms of endometriosis but strongly leads her to believe I do because she said if the growths were on my left tendons then it would shorten them & cause them to pull on that side. She also believes she saw 1 adhesion on my left ovary. So while it definitely isn't stage IV, it seems like it's progressing over the last year. Husband & I have not prevented pregnancy for 8 years now but actively TTC for about a year. I am 35, will be 36 this summer so started going the fertility route. He checked out good, so I'm glad there. Doing ovulation testing this cycle so they can do a blood draw for some more hormone testing next week. Dr seems to think I should (of course pending hormone testing) concentrate on ovulation medication for a few months before considering surgery for the endometriosis. I see her point of less invasive options 1st and that the tilted uterus & endometriosis are not necessarily a block to conception but... with as severe as my uterus is tilted it seems like it would be best to address the endometriosis before doing anything more active to conceive. It seems like it would affect my comfort in carrying the baby and in delivery so why not deal with it right away? I'm looking to see if anyone else has any experience in this. All of the searching online I have done ends up being about rear tilted uterus but I think my situation with it being on the side and with it most likely being caused by endometriosis that it is a different situation. I know with rear tilted uterus they often will upright themselves as the baby grows but if there are adhesions on the tendons on mine seems like that would fight against it going up right and cause additional pain. I only just got this news on Monday and have been trying to research. I put a call into my doctor's nurse today but I haven't gotten any answers back. Just hoping someone else out there has experience in a similar situation. Thanks!!
