My boyfriend want to name the baby after him but I too much doesn't like his name

As a girl Shannon the only boy I’ve ever heard of was NFL player Shannon Sharpe. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m a fan of unisex names, but usually only when it’s more common boy name/masculine for a girl and not vice versa, if that makes any sense.

I've heard of both genders having it. Still, you shouldn't give your baby that name if you don't like it. I would try and compromise by making it a middle name probably.

It may depend on where you live. I grew up in the South (USA) (and have also lived in both the Rockies and the Southwest) and the only Shannons I’ve ever known were all girls. If you live somewhere else, it may be different. Babycenter has it ranked as more popular for boys than girls but not by a lot. I’m assuming your BF is named Shannon and wants the baby named after him. Given the family aspect of it, I think you could get away with it even in the US, but I would consider either making it a middle name or calling the baby by his middle name.

My name is shannon and I'm agirl but when my mom named me that one if her friends asked why they would give a little girl. A boys name because he only knew of men named Shannon. But it is unisex so it just depends what your preference is 😊
