Man! That last few weeks of pregnancy are so rough!!! Everything hurt and I felt like a giant balloon waddling around to go to the bathroom every 5 minutes and crying at literally everything.

I also had preeclampsia with an ongoing migraine so it was definitely time!!!

They induced me at 38weeks 5 days for preeclampsia, and started me out with a pill that softens your cervix. After about 8hours, they started pitocin and placed the Foley bulb to help me dilate to 4 cm. By 7am the next day I was dilated to 5cm, the bulb was out and I was contracting pretty regularly. I used the birthing ball and walking as much as they would allow but my blood pressure was being monitored and kept spiking which left me in the bed quite a bit. I labored the entire day, with no progress in dilation. I had stayed at 5cm the entire day. They finally broke my water and contractions began to really intensify. I was hoping to use the nitrous to cope with pain but it wasn’t available at the time so we resorted to IV pain management until I could no longer breathe my way through contractions when I finally said I needed the epidural. Was checked again in the middle of the night and still no change in cervical dilation. And baby’s heart rate would drop with every contraction. So they stopped pitocin to let my body rest and resume in the morning. Thank goodness for sleep!!!! The next day we started pitocin again and got back to it, but the longer we went without change, the more baby was getting distressed, and I had developed a fever as my water had been broken for almost 24 hours and I was developing an infection. So after 3 days of labor, they finally said it was time to perform a c section and get baby out. After a short and successful surgery, baby Grayson was born at 7 pounds 2 ounces, 19 inches longer, APGAR score of 10, and so perfectly healthy! The surgeon said that the way his head was angled he would not have made it through the birth canal. Poor guy had quite the cone head. But he’s absolutely perfect and beautiful and this mama is soooo thankful to finally be done!!!
