Did your parents/guardians teach you your basic life skills? (read below)
By the time you were an adult, which in this post will be defined as having adult responsibilities, had your parents/guardians taught you most of your basic life skills? Do you believe that is their responsibility? If they didn't, how did you learn them? And, if they didn't teach you most of them, do you consider that bad parenting?
Examples: Time management, how to self discipline, budgeting, basic meal prep, how to drive, how to negotiate, understanding body language, ability to small talk, how to handle confrontation, how to defend yourself, how to admit mistakes and take responsibility, consent (applicable in all situations), the importance of empathy, ability to spend time alone, the importance of self care, and how to ask for help.
To be clear, NOT all adults have all of these skills, and that is fine. This is just a list of common things people would find important to know or be able to do as an adult.
