Friends who dont vacinate and want to play...?
I have a 7 month old and an old friend wants to reconnect. I tried to politely say that I am not comfortable risking it, but she doesn't seem to understand. We went on a walk a few months back and she waited until halfway through to casually mention that her youngest wasn't vaccinated. I was pretty upset that she didn't say something ahead of time, but also mad at myself for neglecting to ask. Any ideas on what to say to her? What is your experience with antivaxxers?
Update:
Thanks you all for your kind comments. I just wanted to say that I know it's a small chance, but they could be in the incubation period and not showing any symptoms. I'm just not willing to risk that before she gets the measles vaccine at 1 year. After that I will feel much less anxious about the whole thing. I know plenty of people don't get vaccinated and are fine, but I have read that that is because most of the population is vaccinated so we protect them by not allowing it to spread. After her last message I feel bad because she seems hurt that I don't want to be around them right now. I guess I will try one more time to explain a little more. It is nice to see the positive reaction to us discussing it amicably. It always surprises me how hostile people get over this topic. Thank you all!
