MIL wants to kiss baby after he’s born?

I don’t even know if I’m going to kiss my own baby on the lips, I said that when she was around and she said she wouldn’t be able to stand that and she will be eating my baby up... I felt uncomfortable and I didn’t know what to say.  What would you do?  I don’t want to hurt her feelings

I would have told her she can either respect my rules or she can get out...my baby...my rules.

I was worried about hurting feelings until someone said to me, "Would you rather hurt feelings temporarily or feel more hurt than you can bear because something tragic happened to your baby that could have been prevented?" And that got me. So I explained to all the family what was going around, what affect it has on small babies. And they were pretty understanding. Especially when I told them they could kiss her cute toes or top of head! If they love the baby enough to keep her/him safe, then they should understand the request.

My mother in law occasionally gets cold sores and she kissed my daughter as soon as she was born. I freaked, but internally, because Mil is bipolar and I had just had a traumatizing experience with my own mom getting kicked out of the hospital, so I was not about to deal with another one. This time, I want to mention it but I really think she will be upset. I might say to only kiss his hands and even then, only if he has mittens on. I might lie and say my doctor says a lot of stuff is going around so he said it would be best not to let anyone but mom and dad kiss on him 🤷‍♀️

I’ll tell all family member they can kiss feet & hands (if baby has mittens) and forehead. No lips. Like they just came out of my vagina/uterus AT THAT so 🤷🏻‍♀️
