How did you give birth?

Hi ladies :) I’m 27 weeks and starting to think about which way I’d like to give birth, if i want to have certain medicines, if I’d like to try water birth, etc! 
So my question is, how did you give birth? Or which was your favorite way? Like water birth, epidural or not, pitocin, other drugs? My mom said she got a certain drug, she couldn’t remember the name of and it made her in a panicked state- so I’m kinda nervous! Any advice or tips would be amazing, as I’m going to be a FTM!

I just had an epidural and had her within 2 hours after that. I have never been more happy to see someone walking in with a needle let me tell you 😂 I was 7cm dilated when I finally got it and felt great the entire remaining birthing process it went by so quick and I felt no pain which was a huge success!

I had a home water birth. I’m most comfortable at home, and in extreme quiet, and find water very relaxing so that helped me. I literally moved from water to water. Started in my shower, moved to my tub, was out of water for 30 min then in a birthing tub for the rest of the time. Yes I was a prune, but it’s what made me feel comfortable. I would focus on asking yourself what makes you most comfortable, if it’s medicine, take it, if it’s yelling and groaning, do it, if it’s “working out” that helps you relax, plan on moving lots. No matter how you dice it, there will be pain, so do whatever you think will help you manage that.

My first was an emergency C-section. He was 9 days late. It was a painful 40 hour labour! There was no waters left around him and none had broken and he was back to back making it very painful! I was given gas and air (great stuff!) then pethidine and then an epidural before things got scary and his heart rate dropped and I was taken for the c-section even though I was 9cm dilated.
My second was supposed to be an elective c-section after the trauma of my first but he came 9 days early. I got to the hospital begging for them to deliver him by c/section still but they encouraged me to try and have a VBAC. I was terrified about it going wrong again but they gave me an epidural and let me still have gas and air to calm me down! He wasn’t progressing fast enough so then I had a drip to speed things up. He was born after 12 hours of labour and one hour of pushing. 
This time I’m asking for an elective c-section again but if she comes early I might try another VBAC. I think the moral of the story is you can’t really plan a birth and just have to go with whatever happens on the day. But I’d definitely recommend an epidural 😄

My first came too fast for the epidural. I totally wanted it though lol. But after going through labor and delivery without the epidural and knowing I can do it and being more familiar with what labor feels like, I’m hoping to go without the epidural this time too. And I like hospital deliveries just because I work for a hospital reading baby charts and too often read about things going wrong so even though I know it’s relatively rare I still feel anxious and scared, I feel safer in the hospital.

My first was a water birth and I totally recommend it if you have the choice!  No epidural or other meds.  Once I was 5 cm dilated I climbed in the tub and it immediately relaxed me enough to allow my body to do what it’s meant to do.  Within an hour I was dilated to 10 cm and pushed for maybe 30 mins?  It also allowed me to switch positions to what my body wanted to deliver in and feel well supported in the water.  Good luck mama! 🛀

My first I went into labour at 34 weeks, i was terrified and unprepared. I had gas and air and pethadine (which was awful and made me sick). 
My second I was in labour for 36 hours, most of them at home. I  had her on my hands ans knees with only had gas and air, I felt so much more in control and capable. 
Third was in a hurry, I was only in pain for an hour, he was born 15 after getting to hospital. I didn't even think about pain relief!
I'm hoping this one is somewhere in the middle of my second and third child. I'd like a little more time but NOT 36 hours this time!

I had gas and air, then the epidural (best invention ever) then gave birth lying on my back slightly propped up. Planning to do the same thing this time, just hoping that my waters break naturally as they had to be broken last time and hoping I'm not in labour for too long!

I'm also 27 weeks! This is my 3rd pregnancy and my 2nd daughter. I'm due May 29th, and both my last 2 births were great. I got the epidural of course and had a great experience. Had my 1st (daughter) at 37 weeks and she came within 6 hrs, and I didn't feel any pain and could still push fine. My 2nd (my son) came to fast!!! Had enough time to get to the hospital pretty much..they rushed the epidural in and he was born 20mins later. Total of 1hr and 15mins from start to finish.  No stitches from either birth. Babies born healthy.  Daughter was 7lb 9o, son was 5lbs 9o. Excited to see how this birth goes.
