Is 96.8 a normal body temp?

Today is my first time logging. I got a new thermometer yesterday. When I feel reallyyy sick, my temp is 99. So I’ve always assumed I just don’t run a fever, or I assumed my temp is naturally low.
Is 96.8 normal, or could something be wrong with me/the thermometer?

So are y’all saying if my early morning bbt is 97.1-97.3, that it’s too low? Cause I’ve seen much lower temps on charts

Depends on where you are in your cycle. Pre ovulation-yes. Post ovulation-no

Yupp perfectly normal. My bbt can be as low as 96.30 at times!

If you have a basal body thermometer, it's probably accurate. It can be normal once in a while, but if it's consistently low like that, it could be hypothyroidism. But don't freak out. If you end up with a long cycle and not end up ovulating with those consistent low temps, then I would go get your thyroid checked. Low temps and anovulation are signs of hypothyroidism. I know this because I think I have it so I did a lot of research 😬 this is my first month tracking, so we'll see what happens.

Yes! Perfectly normal for some people. My standard follicular phase temp is in the 96s (and sometimes a random 95). I then have a clear thermal shift to mid-high 97s for my luteal phase. I do have hypothyroidism but it is carefully controlled with meds, so I just run colder than most (always have). Yeah, when I have a fever in the 99 range I’m pretty sick, 100 and I am miserable. If you find you aren’t having a thermal shift or have other symptoms of low thyroid, get it checked ASAP. But low temp in itself is not a concern.

98.6 is normal temp but your temp should be lower right after you get up in the mornings. My temp is 98.6 in the afternoon but my morning temp is usually a degree or more lower
