6 years ago my family found out my older brothers then girlfriend was pregnant. He’s not a very good guy, I don’t see him much anymore as he’s living in a sober house downtown.

However, my three older siblings and myself are polar opposites of him. We have our lives together and we care about people in a way he just doesn’t know how. It makes me so sad, as we have NEVER met his daughter. (My niece). I have a friend who’s friends with the mom on Facebook, so my friend sends me pictures a few times a year. The most recent one makes me extremely sad because she looks just like me and my sister when we were little.

Every time we’ve reached out the her mom, she plays really nice and agrees to meet us for lunch/dinner and then doesn’t show up. It’s so frustrating because my brother isn’t in a place to be a dad, but she has a whole other side of the family who loves her and want to get to know her. I completely understand why her mom is so cautious as she’s scared, but she’s so mean when she talks about us or to us for that matter.

I know there’s next to nothing I can do to see her, but does anyone have advice on what we can do?

I should also add that he’s paying child support.
