Feeding too much or too often at daycare
Sorry for the long post but need advice and need to vent.
I started back to work January and was only feeding my baby breast milk. He was being fed 4 oz and I would bring in 4 bottles. They asked that I increase to 5 oz which was completely fine. My baby is now 5 months old and thats what I find most babies drink at his age.
My supply has slowly come to where I can only bring in 2 5oz bottles of breast milk and for the rest of the day I gave them an extra bottle and a canister of formula. He would still only drink about 3 additional bottles. That's 5 bottles usually for an 11 hour day.
Today- I dropped off my baby at 7 (last fed at 6). They fed him 5oz at 7:15, 5 oz at 7:50, 5 oz at 11:45, 5 oz at 1:15, 3 oz at 1:50, and 3 oz at 2:50 then I picked him up at 3.
6 bottles during a 8 hour stretch when he normally drinks 5 bottles in an 11 hour stretch?
Why would they feed him almost every hour or less!?! Formula is expensive! I'm so frustrated! My baby usually eats every 3 hours at home and is fine, dosent show any sign of being hungry otherwise. I don't want to tell them to only feed him every 2-3 hours if he's truly hungry but I think they are just feeding him to be quiet. He's 5 months old with 4 teeth already and it's most likely teething more.
What do you ladies do at daycare?
Do you prep all bottles at home then they only have so much to give them all day?
Do you give them a set feeding schedule?
I'm a FTM and new to formula feeding so I'm not sure what is normal for a 5 month old.
