My husband and I are 23 and 25 years old. Our son turns 1 in less than a month. We were not trying or planning to until my endometriosis calmed down a bit and I was on birth control as well. Well it happened unexpectedly somehow and we feel beyond grateful to be able to complete our family. He has a very good job and also is in the army so we’re lucky enough to be able to provide for our son and this child as well.

We waited until our 8 week scan to announce to any family and his parents were the first we told. His mom looked at me and said “that’s stupid and you need to be fixed. You can’t just keep getting knocked up. You won’t keep my son that way”

And his dad just told us to get out of their house.

They’re so angry and I don’t understand why?

His mom thinks that children must be exactly three years apart. Anymore or any less and that’s wrong for the kids somehow. So I get she thinks it’s too soon but their reaction broke my heart. They texted us later that night and told us they will no longer see our son and they want nothing to do with this baby.

But they are over the moon excited for their other son who has a baby on the way as well yet neither him nor his girlfriend have a job or any means to support their addition on the way.

They’re also 27 and 28 years old.

Why are we so awful when they’re like saints? We don’t ask them to provide anything for us. We don’t beg for money or food or help with our son. We gave them our dog because his mom said he was the only way she felt safe sleeping at night and he’s not even a guard dog. He’s the cuddliest goofball ever. I don’t understand them. My son has asked for them twice since this happened and I don’t know how to explain that they don’t want to see him at only a year old.
