Take 2 times daily means?

I was given a prescription and it says “take 1 tablet by mouth twice daily”

If it was the same time it would say 2 tablets once daily. 1 tablet twice a day means exactly that.. two times a day.

i’m a registered nurse, when it says to take one pill twice a day usually morning and night, typically like 12 hours apart or so like 8am and 8pm just like you said!

With prescriptions there are additional instructions given in a pamphlet with the pills. They will usually tell you how to take them, such as with a meal or full glass of water, and if they can be taken two at the same time or if they should be spaced out. 
Typically, if they say “take 1 tablet twice per day” they mean to take 1 tablet in the morning and 1 later in the afternoon or evening. If you’re confused, you can call the pharmacy or your doctor and ask them directly.
